The Deepest Desire: Why Connection—Not Success—Is What We’re Really Searching For

Apr 13, 2025

When I first started teaching Lifeonaire, I thought my mission was to help people develop a Lifeonaire Vision—a blueprint for the life they truly wanted.

But after years of walking alongside people, coaching entrepreneurs, and guiding them toward their goals, I’ve realized something even deeper.

What people really want isn’t success. It’s not money. It’s not houses, cars, boats, or financial freedom.

What people want—what we are all searching for—is connection.

Look at any vision someone writes for their life, and you’ll see it.

They might talk about wanting more time, more experiences, or more opportunities. But at the heart of it all, they want to experience relationships in a meaningful way.

It’s never really about the “thing.”

It’s about who they will experience it with.

The Difference Between Authentic Connection and Fake Connection

If you’ve been around Lifeonaire for a while, you’ve probably heard us talk about connection. We use it to describe our Connect groups, Connect calls, and our mission to bring people together in meaningful ways.

But not all connection is real.

There’s authentic connection—the kind that brings joy, fulfillment, and a deep sense of belonging.

And then there’s fake connection—the kind that leaves you feeling emptier than before.

And in today’s world, fake connection is everywhere.

Fake Connection: The Trap That Leaves You Always Wanting More

People who feel disconnected will try to fill that void with something—anything—that gives them a temporary sense of satisfaction.

This is where addiction comes in.

Some people work more.

Some compromise their values to make more money.

Some turn to alcohol, drugs, or pornography.

Some chase the validation of social media—putting out a perfect version of themselves for the world to admire.

It all looks different on the surface, but at the core, it’s the same thing.

People are desperate to feel seen, valued, and accepted.

But the problem is, fake connection never satisfies.

When you’re chasing validation, you always need more.

More work to prove your worth.

More money to justify your sacrifice.

More likes, more followers, more praise from people who don’t really know you.

And here’s the real danger:

You know the praise is fake.

Because they’re not praising you.

They’re praising the image you put out there.

And so, the fear sets in: What if they find out who I really am? What if I can’t keep this up?

That’s where the cycle begins.

That’s why addiction isn’t just about substances. It’s about constantly needing something outside of yourself to feel like you matter.

But there’s a way out.

The Power of Authentic Connection: Being Fully Known and Fully Loved

True connection happens when we are seen for who we really are—and loved anyway.

That’s when the need to prove yourself disappears.

That’s when you stop striving for “more” because you finally feel enough.

I’ve heard so many people say that Lifeonaire was the first place they felt safe enough to be completely real.

They could walk into a room, say exactly what they were struggling with, and still be loved, accepted, and supported.

No judgment. No competition. Just an authentic connection.

That’s what real freedom looks like.

It’s not found in a bank account, a business deal, or a social media highlight reel.

It’s found in being fully yourself—and knowing that’s enough.

Where Do You Start?

If you struggle with authentic connection, there’s one relationship you need to start with first.

Your relationship with yourself.

Because if you’re constantly putting out a fake version of yourself, it’s likely because you don’t believe the real you is good enough.

You don’t fully love yourself.

And when you don’t love yourself, it’s hard to love others.

It’s hard to love God.

Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.

But then He said the second is just as important: Love your neighbor as yourself.

Think about that.

If we are commanded to love others the way we love ourselves—but we don’t actually love ourselves—what does that say about how we’re treating the people around us?

If we constantly judge ourselves, tear ourselves down, or believe we aren’t enough… how will we ever be able to freely love and connect with others?

This is why authenticity matters.

Authenticity is the Path to Real Connection

When you’re real, you no longer have to keep up a lie.

You don’t have to work for love.

You don’t have to prove yourself.

 You don’t have to perform.

You can just be.

And the right people—the people who matter—will love you for exactly who you are.

That’s what we all want at the end of the day.

Not more money. Not more success. Not more validation.

We want to be fully known and fully loved.

That’s what God offers.

And that’s what we can experience with others when we choose authenticity.

An Invitation to a Different Way of Living

If this resonates with you, I want to invite you into something deeper.

To step away from the pressure to perform.

To let go of the need to be more, do more, have more.

To experience the kind of connection that actually satisfies.

This is why Lifeonaire exists.

It’s why we’ve created a community where people can be real, open, and truly known.

And it’s why I continue to invite others to join us.

If you’re tired of feeling like you have to keep up an image…

If you’re ready to let go of the endless chase for validation…

If you want real success, real peace, and real freedom…

I’d love for you to connect with us.
